Louisiana Medicaid dental care coverage expanding

The Louisiana Section of Wellbeing introduced, Louisiana Medicaid is increasing complete dental treatment to grownups ages 21 and older with mental or developmental disabilities who are enrolled in the New Opportunities Waiver, Household Options Waiver or the Supports Waiver.

LDH reported the protection will involve diagnostic providers, preventive services, restorative expert services, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, orthodontics, and emergency treatment.

“Oral overall health is crucial to our overall wellbeing, shaping our bodily and psychological very well-currently being at each and every age. This growth of coverage will increase the wellbeing and very well-staying of Louisianans with mental or developmental disabilities by furnishing plan and preventive dental treatment,” stated LDH Secretary Dr. Courtney Phillips. “Providing complete dental companies for these who are enrolled in the New Chances Waiver, Household Possibilities Waiver or the Supports Waiver will assist persons keep good oral overall health and avert severe health and fitness troubles in the long term.”

Gov. John Bel Edwards signed Act 450 bill into law in June 2021 which produced the new expanded coverage possible.
